Important Components Of A Great Introduction For A Narrative

There are different types of writing styles that are being used by the writers to convey their message to their readers. One of such writing styles is a narrative which refers to personal experience or story telling. All of the narrative assignments ask you to share your personal experiences in the form of a story with your readers. The structure of a narrative is usually different from other types of assignments or content because here you are required to tell your story in a conversational and interesting way so that the reader could engage himself with your story. So in the structure of a narrative, introduction plays a very important role as it helps you in grabbing the attention of the reader and also in developing their interest about the story. Before writing an introduction of your narrative, you must understand its components that will help you in developing an interesting and attention grabbing introduction.

It is generally said that brainstorming the ideas before starting writing is the successful way to develop an effective and interesting piece of content. So before writing your narrative story, brainstorm all the ideas and experiences that relate to your story. You can use the photo albums or journals and can also ask your family and friends that were a part of your story to remember what exactly happened. The more you will be clear about your ideas or experiences, the more you can write an effective and a better story.

As stated above that introduction plays a very important role in developing reader’s interest, so it is essential for you to make your introduction interesting and attention grabbing from the beginning so that the reader can feel compelled to read out the whole story.

Conversational writing style is considered effective and successful in a narrative essay because a reader will pay attention to your story only when he or she will hear your characters. So start your introduction with an interesting dialogue of one of your characters as it will persuade your reader to go through your story till the end.

Your first paragraph of a narrative usually provides information about the main characters and also highlights what the story is all about. Try to keep your introduction clear, simple, interesting and short because only then it will be able to develop your reader’s interest in your story.
